Immigration Issues Warning Over Fraudulent IMUGA Form Websites

Maldives Immigration has issued a warning to travellers about several fake websites posing as official portals for the mandatory Traveller Declaration form, known as IMUGA. These fraudulent sites—named "IMUGA Application," "IMUGA Online," and "IMUGAMaldives.net"—are scams attempting to charge users for submitting the form.

Authorities stressed that the IMUGA form is free of charge and should only be submitted through the official website: imuga.immigration.gov.mv/traveller.

All foreign visitors to the Maldives must complete the form within 96 hours prior to arrival.

Travellers are strongly advised to use only the official platform to avoid falling victim to fraudulent schemes.

New High Commissioner of Maldives to India Presents Letter of Credence to the President of India

The newly appointed High Commissioner of the Republic of Maldives to the Republic of India, Her Excellency Aishath Azeema presented her Letters of Credence to Her Excellency Droupadi Murmu, President of the Republic of India. The ceremony took place today at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Presidential Palace of India.

During the call on the President that followed the Credential ceremony, President Murmu welcomed High Commissioner Azeema and congratulated on her assumption of duties as the High Commissioner of the Maldives to IndiaIn response, High Commissioner Azeema conveyed warm greetings from the President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, and the people of the Maldives to President Murmu, the Government and the friendly People of India. The High Commissioner further expressed appreciation on behalf of the Government of the Maldives for the unwavering support to the socio-economic development of the Maldives.

Furthermore, High Commissioner Azeema reaffirmed the commitment of the Government of Maldives in strengthening the longstanding bilateral relations and expressed keen interest and commitment in working closely to strengthen the existing close ties between the two countries.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of establishing formal diplomatic ties, and India was one among the first to recognize Maldives as regained independence.

Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi and President of Maldives H. E. Dr. Mohamed Muizzu met on 7 October 2024 and comprehensively reviewed the entire gamut of bilateral ties while noting the progress made by both countries in deepening their historically close and special relationship that has immensely contributed to the betterment of the peoples of the two countries.
